My mother-in-law shared the recipe for these golden waffles our daughter, Kayla, loves. Just add a few ingredients to the mix and you'll be enjoying their homemade whole-grain taste in minutes. Ingredients:
4 cups king arthur premium 100% whole wheat flour |
2 cups king arthur unbleached all-purpose flour |
1 cup toasted wheat germ |
1 cup toasted oat bran |
1 cup buttermilk blend powder |
3 tablespoons baking powder |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
additional ingredients: |
2 eggs |
1 cup water |
2 tablespoons canola oil |
2 tablespoons honey |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 months. Yield: 8-1/2 cups mix (about 4 batches). 2. To prepare waffles: Place 2 cups waffle mix in a bowl. Combine the eggs, water, oil and honey; stir into waffle mix just until moistened. Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions until golden brown. Yield: 5 servings per batch. |
