This is heavenly and quick to prepare. I made it over the stove instead of microwaving. Recipe courtesy of Southern Living Ultimate Christmas Cookbook 2010. Ingredients:
1 onion, finely chopped |
3 garlic cloves, minced |
10 ounces diced tomatoes with green chilies (hot) |
10 ounces diced tomatoes with green chilies |
4 1/2 ounces green chilies, chopped |
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano |
1/4 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground |
2 lbs american cheese (white cheese, sliced) |
1 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Place onion in a medium microwave-safe bowl, cover loosely with heavy-duty plastic wrap. 2. Microwave on high 2 minutes. 3. Stir garlic, hot diced tomatoes and green chiles, diced tomatoes and green chiles, green chiles, oregano, and pepper into onion. 4. Roughly tear cheese slices and place in a 4-quart slow cooker. 5. Pour milk over cheese and add onion mixture. 6. Cover and cook on low 2 hours. 7. Stir gently to blend ingredients. |
