This is great for a change instead of potatoes. It was a staple in our housw when I was growing up. Ingredients:
7 slices white bread |
6 tablespoons butter |
1 cup milk, scalded |
2 eggs |
1 onion, chopped |
1 bunch parsley, chopped |
salt, white pepper, nutmeg |
Directions:
1. Slice the bread; place in a bowl and pour the boiling milk over top;. 2. In a small saucepan; cook the onion gently in butter until it is translucent; remove from the heat; add the parsley;. 3. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients to form a smooth batter;. 4. shape into balls; poach in water or broth for about 20 minutes;. 5. Drain and serve hot. |
