This recipe goes with Bread Pudding With Whiskey Sauce Ingredients:
1 cup whole milk |
1 tablespoon butter |
1/3 cup sugar |
1 large egg, lightly beaten |
1/4 cup bourbon |
2 tablespoons water |
2 teaspoons cornstarch |
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
additional nutmeg, optional |
Directions:
1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan; stir well. Cook over medium low heat 5 minutes, stirring often. 2. Gradually add half of milk mixture to egg, stirring constantly with a whisk. Return mixture to pan. Cook over medium-low heat 5 minutes or until slightly thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and add bourbon. 3. Combine water and cornstarch; stir well. Add to milk mixture; bring almost to a boil; cook 1 minute. Stir in nutmeg. Serve warm with bread pudding. Sprinkle with additional nutmeg, if desired. |
