One of the strangest preparations ever, yet it gets good reviews every Holiday. I pack it in little tins as gifts. I can't remember who made it first or where the recipe came from but I remember the arguments over we should use green or red cherries or both. Read more . What a silly argument. Ingredients:
1/2 lb. candied pineapple |
1/2 lb. pitted chopped dates |
1/2 lb. candied cherries (color your choice) |
3 cups of chopped fresh pecans |
2 cans of coconut 7 ounces each |
1 can of condensed milk |
Directions:
1. Note: These days I buy the fruit at the health food store and try to avoid the funny colored cherries. 2. Dump all ingredients in a big bowl, 3. Stir well to mix. 4. Pack and I mean pack it down firmly in a greased loaf pan and bake for one hour at 250 degrees, a low oven. 5. Slice and keep in a tightly covered tin. |
