Ever wonder where the middle of your donuts went? Adapted from a recipe clipping cut from a magazine many years ago. I roll some in regular sugar, some in cinnamon sugar, and some in confectioners' sugar. The amount of donuts will depend on the size. The original recipe called for 1/2 tsp nutmeg. The amount of donuts will depend on the size of your donuts.

2 tablespoons butter
oil (for frying)
sugar
Directions:
1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl.
2. In another bowl, mix together the egg, milk, and butter.
3. Add to dry ingredients and mix well.
4. Heat oil to 375 degrees.
5. Drop dough in by heaping teaspoonfuls, about six at a time, into hot oil. Fry until golden brown, turning once.
