Sounds weird, but this combo is awesome! Spicy from the Japanese wasabi powder and Dijon, but cooled down by the bland tofu and dill, this is a delicious cream-like sauce for everything! Adapted from Fresh in Toronto. Ingredients:
1/4 cup vegetable broth |
2 tsp cornstarch |
1 tsp olive oil |
1 medium onion, minced |
3 cloves garlic, minced |
1 tbsp wasabi powder |
6 tbsp water |
450g low-fat silken tofu |
1 tbsp dijon mustard |
1 tbsp dillweed |
1/4 cup rice vinegar |
Directions:
1. In a small microwaveable dish, whisk together vegetable broth and cornstarch. Microwave 30 seconds - 1 minute, until clear and thick. Set aside. 2. Heat oil in a frypan over medium heat. 3. Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened (around 5 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool. 4. Add wasabi powder and half the water to a blender and pulse to mix. 5. Add all remaining ingredients and puree. 6. Store covered in the refrigerator up to 5 days. |
