50 gms/ 2 oz softened butter |
3 tablespoons golden syrup |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup boiling water |
1 -1 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 egg |
1 cup flour |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
Directions:
1. Place butter, syrup, sugar, and boiling water in a bowl and stir gently until the butter is melted. 2. Add the egg and whisk briskly. 3. Add the sifted dry ingredients and pour into a greased and floured loaf pan. The mixture will be quite thin. 4. Bake at 350 F for about 30 or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. |
