I have not tried this sauce. I'm posting this for safe keeping. I found this recipe in Complete Book Of Small Batch Preserving. Enjoy this sauce strained and added to hot tea for a warming experience after a winter outing. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter (25 ml) or 2 tablespoons margarine (25 ml) |
1 cup apple cider (250 ml) |
3/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar (175 ml) |
2 tablespoons cornstarch (25 ml) |
1 -2 tablespoon rum or 1 -2 tablespoon brandy (optional) or 1 -2 tablespoon calvados (optional) |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a microwavable 2 cup (500 ml) container on high (100%) for 30 seconds. 2. Stir together cider, sugar and cornstarch. Whisk into butter. Mictowave, uncovered, on high for 3 minutes or until smooth and thickened. 3. Stir in rum (if using). Serve warm. |
