Sometimes the simplest cakes make the best desserts.This is a nutty confection,scented with cinnamon and cloves. Serve with whipped cream or sliced oranges.
Ingredients:
butter(for pan0
flour(for pan)
1c flour
1/4tsp salt
1tsp ground cinnamon
1/2tsp ground cloves
2c walnuts
1c(2 sticks) unsalted butter at room temperature
11/3c granulated sugar
4 eggs
Directions:
1. Set oven at 350. Butter and flour 10 springform pan
2. In a bowl,sift flour,salt,cinnamon and cloves.
3. In a food processor,grind the nuts until they are medium fine
4. In an electric mixer,cream the butter,. Add the sugar,gradually in 3 stages,beating after each one. Add the eggs,one by one,beating only until they are incorporated.
5. Remove the bowl from mixer stand. With a rubber spatula,stir in the nuts,,then fold in the flour mixture.
6. Pour the batter into pan,smooth the top,and bake the cake for 45 mins. or till a skewer inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
