This is an old family recipe. No one is sure exactly where is came from, it's just sort of always been there. I've changed it to be microwave friendly. It's a nice change from syrup. We love it for breakfast and an occasional dinner. Read more . Gotta love breaky for dinner. Ingredients:
waffle batter |
3 eggs, slightly beaten |
1 c milk |
1 1/2 c flour |
2 t. baking powder (i only use 1 t. because we are at high altitude) |
pinch salt |
4 t butter |
white sauce |
1/4 c sugar |
1/2 c waffle batter |
2 c milk |
1/4 - 1/2 t vanilla |
Directions:
1. For the Waffles 2. In a medium bowl add flour, baking powder and salt. In a microwavable bowl melt butter. Add the milk and eggs to the melted butter. Add the butter mix to the flour and mix just until blended. Make waffles in your waffle iron. 3. For the White Sauce 4. In a microwavable bowl add all the ingredients for the white sauce. Mix well until there are no clumps. Put in the microwave and cook on high for 1 min. Stir. Cook for about 5 minutes stopping to stir every min until sauce starts to thicken. Use the sauce as you would syrup. 5. The batter doesn't seem to make a whole lot. For my family of 5 we would double the batter but keep the sauce the same. |
