This was my mother-in-law's recipe. My husband loves it. It's very easy and doesn't need any frosting. Good just by itself. Very moist. I just dust with a little confectioner's sugar. Ingredients:
3 cups flour |
2 cups sugar |
6 tbls. cocoa |
1 tbls. salt |
2 tsp. baking soda |
2 cups cold water |
3/4 cup vegetable oil |
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract |
2 tbls. vinegar |
confectioner's sugar for dusting |
Directions:
1. Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and baking soda 2. Pour water, oil, vanilla, vinegar over dry ingredients 3. (I put water in measuring cup, then add oil till it reaches 2 3/4 cup mark, then add vanilla and vinegar.) 4. Mix thoroughly with spoon, but don't beat 5. Pour into 9 x 13 baking dish 6. Bake at 350* F for approximately 50 minutes 7. Dust with confectioner's sugar (optional) |
