FRIED APPLES This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. “We like fried apples with bacon so much we often have them for breakfast with hot buttered biscuits,” writes Mrs. Read more . Clara Shupe of Franklin, PA. “Sometimes we have them for supper with a green salad and corn bread. This is the way I make them.” Ingredients:
Directions:
1. Wash enough apples that you will have 1 cup when they are sliced thin. 2. Do not peel them. 3. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of sugar. 4. Fry bacon in a heavy skillet. 5. When bacon is done remove from skillet and put apples in hot fat. 6. Cover tightly and cook until tender. 7. Serve piping hot. |
