One of our family favorites when fresh plums are in season, but other fresh fruit such as sweet ripe pears are also perfect for fall or winter. This is my mom's recipe, one of several plum caes/kuchen/tortes she made over the years. Read more . It's simple yet elegant. I'll post a photo when I make it next time! Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter |
1/2 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
1 cup flour |
1 tsp baking powder |
1/4 tsp salt |
10 red or blue plums cut in half |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 tsp cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Ceam butter till smooth. 2. Cream in sugar till fluffily. 3. Add in egg, one at a time. Combine and sift dry ingredients together. 4. Beat into creamed mixture to blend. 5. Spread mixture into a buttered 9 x 9 inch square pan. Place plums cut side up. 6. Mix sugar and cinnamon and spoon mixture equally each plum. 7. Bake 350F about 30 minutes or done. 8. Serve warm or cold. 9. Top with whipped cream. |
