This is a really easy way to impress people with homemade bread...you let your food processor do the work for you. Try the ice cube trick to get a nice crunchy exterior. Very simple and notice there is no fat. Ingredients:
2 packages yeast |
2 1/4 cup water 90-100 degrees |
6 cups all-purpose flour |
2 tsp salt |
ice cubes, just a handful |
Directions:
1. In a food processor, add yeast, 1/4 cup water, whirl to combine 2. Add flour and salt, process 3. Add water slowly to form a ball 4. Remove and knead on floured surface for a few minutes 5. Place in a bowl and allow to rise until doubled, about an hour 6. Divide in half, and form two loaves 7. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes 8. **The secret to a nice crusty exterior is to throw a handful of ice on the bottom of the hot oven when you first put the bread in. This creates steam which develops the crust we all love on french bread. |
