Upma is an Indian dish made of semolina but I prefer to use vermicelli . Vermicelli ( made from semolina ) is a type of pasta but thinner than spaghetti ( made from durum wheat. ) . Ingredients:
2 c vermicilli , roasted until golden |
4 c water |
pinch of salt |
temper |
1/2 tbsp ghee |
pinch of mustard seeds |
1 sprig curry leaves |
1 dry red chilli , broken |
2 tsp chopped onions |
1 tsp fresly chopped ginger |
Directions:
1. First temper . 2. Add the water . 3. Once starts to boil , add the vermicilli and salt . 4. Check the salt and on high heat boil until all the water evaporates . 5. Serve hot with golden brown sugar ( For each serving , 1 to 2 tsp of sugar ) . |
