Ingredients:
1/4 cup bacon drippings |
6 medium tomatoes, peeled and sliced |
4 cups fresh okra, cleaned and cut into 1/2-inch slices |
1 cup boiling water |
6 fresh mushrooms, sliced |
1 clove garlic, minced |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
hot cooked rice |
Directions:
1. Sauté onion in drippings in a Dutch oven over medium heat until tender. Add tomatoes, okra, and water. Cover; cook over low heat 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add mushrooms, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cover; cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with rice. |
