This is a really simple, and great tasting gravy for Thanksgiving or any other time. It will fool meat-eaters, I swear. Ingredients:
1/2 cup vegetable oil |
1/2 cup yellow onion, chopped |
5 garlic cloves, chopped |
1/2 cup flour |
4 tablespoons light soy sauce |
4 teaspoons nutritional yeast |
2 cups vegetable broth (or mushroom broth, or a mixture of the two) |
1/2 teaspoon sage |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. Saute the onions and garlic in the oil over medium heat for 5 minutes. 2. Stir in the flour, soy sauce and nutritional yeast to form a paste. 3. Whisk in broth. 4. Add sage, salt and pepper. 5. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring, for 8-10 minutes. |
