Vegan Dlt (Dulse, Lettuce, and Tomato) Sandwiches |

Dulse is a delicious and very nutritious sea vegetable. Its salty flavor and crispy texture make it an excellent substitute for bacon in this sandwich with much less sodium and fat than the real thing. Ingredients:
4 slices whole-grain bread |
4 tablespoons vegan mayonnaise (vegenaise) |
1/2 cup dulse seaweed |
1 tomato |
1/2 cup lettuce |
Directions:
1. Dry fry the dulse in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes, until the leaves turn greenish (black=burnt). Let cool. 2. Meanwhile, toast bread (if desired) and slice tomato. Spread bread with vegenaise. Top with dulse, lettuce, and tomato. If desired, season with salt and pepper. |
