I know, I know, they sound weird but trust me on this when I tell you they are really tasty! These burgers are a bit different and a lot healthier for you than most. Try them before you say eeewwww. Prep time includes the time needed to build the burgers after they are cooked. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground turkey |
2/3 cup plain breadcrumbs (panko also works) |
1 egg, slightly beaten |
1 green onion, chopped fine |
1 garlic clove, minced fine |
1/2 cup zucchini, shredded fine |
1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper |
1/3 cup honey |
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar |
1 teaspoon soy sauce |
1 garlic clove, minced fine |
1/2 cup cranberry sauce |
1 cup alfalfa sprout |
3 tablespoons sunflower seeds (without the shells) |
6 whole whole wheat hamburger buns |
Directions:
1. Mix all of the burger ingredients together and form 6 patties; set aside. 2. Mix all of the glaze ingredients together. 3. Place burgers on hot grill. 4. Cook for 5 minutes on each side, brushing with the glaze every few minutes. 5. Remove burgers from the grill. 6. Smear a bit of cranberry sauce on each of the 6 buns. 7. Top bun with a burger. 8. Top burger with alfalfa sprouts. 9. Top sprouts with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds. 10. Put top bun on bottom bun and eat. |
