I found this on in the context of wooing your guy with food. I was hesitant to use shortening but they taste great. This recipe reflects a different size and cooking time from the original and creates a cookie very much like a Mrs. Field's in looks and taste, tell me what you think. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 cup butter flavor shortening |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 cup packed light brown sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 large eggs |
2 cups old fashioned oats |
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°. 2. Mix flour, soda and salt; set aside. 3. Beat shortening, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy. 4. Add the eggs and beat until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. 5. Gradually beat in flour mixture and rolled oats. 6. Stir in chocolate chips. 7. Drop batter by large tablespoon or small ice-cream scoop onto parchment-lined baking sheet, you should have room for 6 on an average baking sheet, don't crowd, they will spread out. 8. Bake for 16 minutes or until golden brown, don't overbake. 9. Remove to cooling rack and cool until firm. |
