Ukrainian Garlic Bread Puffs

(Pampushky z chasnykom) This is a Ukarinian recipe,a simple yeast-raised bread dough, fried in oil and flavored with garlic salt or oil. These can be served as appetizers or with soup.
Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 tbs. sugar
3 cup flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbs oil
3 cloves garlic, peeled and mashed with salt, or prepared garlic salt (i prefer kosher salt and real garlic crushed)
Directions:
1. Disolve yeast in water, add sugar, and allow to foam.
2. Combine flour, salt, salt, oil, and yeast mixture and knead into dough.
3. Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or towel, allow to double in size.
4. Punch down, pinch off small pieces of dough, roll between lightly oiled palm into 1 inch balls, and place on floured towel.
5. Heat at least 2 inches of oil in a skillet until hot but not smoking. Drop in dough balls, fry on all sides, remove and drain on paper towels. Roll in or sprinkle with garlic salt.
6. Serve warm.,
