Uganda Mandazi --Fried Dough |

Amandazi is a traditional Ugandan recipe for a classic snack made from a pastry of corn meal and wheat flour bound with egg and milk that's fried in oil before serving. Ingredients:
100 g cornmeal |
30 g wheat flour |
20 g sugar |
1 egg |
125 ml milk |
oil (for deep frying) |
Directions:
1. Mix together the flours and sugar. Add the egg and milk and stir to form a viscous dough. 2. Meanwhile heat the oil in a pan to a depth of about 6cm. Once the oil is hot add the batter 1 tbsp at a time and fry until golden. 3. Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on kitchen paper and serve once all the mandazi are done. |
