Barfi / burfi is an Indian and Pakistani sweet . It resembles and smells abit like cheese . So , sometimes it is called Indian cheese cake . At first , make lesser quantity , as constant stirring of the thick mixture tend to tire the hands . Ingredients:
1 c cocoa powder |
1 c sweetened condensed milk |
1 c full cream milk |
125 grams butter |
1 c sugar , more or less ( i used 1/4 c onli ) |
1/4 c chopped almonds - optional ( i didn't use it ) |
Directions:
1. First , in a microwave dissolve the cocoa powder in little bit milk . 2. Keep it aside, ready. 3. Put all the other ingredients except the almonds into a heavy-bottomed pan on a medium flame. 4. Stir continously till the mixture becomes thick and begins to leave the sides of the pan . 5. This will take 10 to 15 mins . ( for me less dan 10 mins ) 6. Turn off the fire. 7. Grease a platter and spoon the 3/4 portion onto it and mix the almonds well . 8. Add chocolate mixture to the remaining 1/4 cooked barfi mix and make sure it is thoroughly mixed. 9. Spread in as a top layer and level it with a flat spoon . 10. Cool a little and while STILL WARM CUT into squares. 11. Levae it for 30 mins . 12. Now store in an air-tight container. |
