One more way to use Textured Vegetable Protien. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups dry textured vegetable protein |
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped |
1/4 cup green pepper, finely chopped |
1 garlic clove, minced |
1/2 teaspoon cumin |
1 jalapeno, chopped |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
lettuce |
cheese |
sour cream |
salsa |
Directions:
1. Soak TVP in water for 5 minutes. 2. Saute onions, peppers, and garlic. 3. Add TVP, tomato paste, jalapeno, cumin and some ground pepper. 4. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. 5. It’s done when “meat” is thick. Serve like tacos. |
