One more way to use Textured Vegetable Protien.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups dry textured vegetable protein
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup green pepper, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 jalapeno, chopped
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
lettuce
cheese
sour cream
salsa
Directions:
1. Soak TVP in water for 5 minutes.
2. Saute onions, peppers, and garlic.
3. Add TVP, tomato paste, jalapeno, cumin and some ground pepper.
4. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. It’s done when “meat” is thick. Serve like tacos.
