This would be a nice holiday cookie or great for a cookie exchange any way you decide it will be a great hit.............................. courtesy holiday treats Ingredients:
1/2-cup butter |
3/4- cup packed light brown sugar |
1- egg |
1/2 -teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 1/4 - cups flour |
1/2- teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 - teaspoon salt |
2- tablespoons sugar |
2- tablespoons milk |
1- tablespoon melted butter |
1/2- teaspoon vanilla extract |
1- egg |
1/3 - cup flour |
1/2 - teaspoon baking soda |
1/4- teaspoon salt |
1- cup candied fruit |
3/4 - cup semisweet chocolate chips |
1/2 - cup chopped nuts ( pecans or walnuts) |
Directions:
1. 1st layer …………. 2. Cream 1/2 cup butter, brown sugar, 1 egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a mixing bowl beat until light and fluffy…….. 3. Mix 1 1/4 cups of flour 1/2- teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt in bowl.. 4. Add to creamed mixture, mix well 5. Spread in greased 9x13 inch baking pan .. 6. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 12 minutes or until light brown. 7. Cool………… 8. 2nd layer ………… 9. Combine sugar, milk 1 tablespoon butter 1/2- teaspoon vanilla and 1 egg in a small bowl; mix well. 10. Stir in 1/3 cup flour, 1/2- teaspoon baking soda and 1/4- teaspoon salt. 11. Spread over baked layer……… 12. Sprinkle fruit, chocolate chips and nuts over top.. 13. Bake for 15 minutes longer 14. Cool completely 15. Cut into 1x2 inch bars 16. Yield 2 dozen |
