When I was a kid I would give my Mom a box of Russell Stover Chocolates every Mother's Day...She would always say Thank You and then gently remind me she didn't like the chewy chocolates...I did though. Read more ..LOL...I think of her every time I make this cake Ingredients:

1 box devil's food cake mix |
1 cup buttermilk |
1/2 cup canola oil |
3 eggs |
1-7 oz. pkg. turtle candies, chopped and divided |
1 tbls. cocoa powder |
topping |
1 1/2 cups whipping cream |
1/3 cup caramel ice cream topping |
1 can chocolate frosting |
additional turtle candies to garnish if desired |
Directions:
1. Cake 2. Preheat oven to 350 3. Line 2-9 inch cake pan bottoms with parchment paper 4. Grease paper and sides of pan 5. In mixing bowl, combine cake mix, buttermilk, oil and eggs and mix according to pkg. directions 6. Mix 1 cup of Turtle candy with cocoa powder 7. Pour into pans and bake 20-25 minutes 8. Cool completely 9. Topping 10. In mixing bowl, beat whipping cream until it begins to thicken 11. Add caramel topping and beat until stiff peaks form 12. Fold in remaining candy 13. Spread chocolate frosting between layers 14. Frost top and sides with cream mixture 15. Garnish with additional candy 16. Keep in refrigerator |
