I made up this new recipe and am challenging all of you to find the perfect sauce for it. It is a play on the turduken but without the duck It is a blend of ground pork, ground turkey and deli maple ham. Layered in each other and fried! Read more ! It is quite good but I am in search for the perfect sauce for it! Ingredients:
1/2 pound ground pork |
1/2 pound ground turkey |
1/2 pound sliced ham(i used boar's head maple ham) |
1 egg |
1/4 cup milk |
1/2 cup italian bread crumbs |
creole spice |
garlic salt |
parsley |
oil for frying |
lime butter sauce(this is good, but i believe we can find a better sauce for it! want to try ) |
1 stick butter |
2 teaspoons maple mustard |
2 tablespoons flour |
1/2 cup water |
1/3 cup sliced green onions |
1/2 cup heavy cream |
juice from one lime |
salt |
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, season ground turkey with creole spice and garlic to taste 2. In another bowl, season ground pork with creole spice,parsley and garlic to taste 3. Roll pork into bite size balls 4. Wrap pork balls in a slice of ham 5. Cover ham ball with ground turkey, molding around ham ball 6. Beat egg with milk 7. Dip balls in egg wash and then roll in bread crumbs 8. Heat enough oil in saucepan or frying pan to deep fry balls. 9. Brown balls in hot oil 10. Drain on paper towels. 11. In large skillet, melt butter. 12. Add green onions and saute for 1 to 2 minutes. 13. Lower heat and whisk in mustard and flour. 14. Slowly whisk in cream and water 15. Squeeze lime juice in sauce and season with salt to taste. 16. Add balls to sauce, cover and cook over low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. |
