Ingredients:
1 bunch (about 3 pounds) turnip greens |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil |
3/4 teaspoon sugar |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
hot sauce (optional) |
Directions:
1. Cut off and discard tough stems and discolored leaves from greens. Wash greens thoroughly in cold water several times; drain slightly. Set aside. 2. Sauté onion in oil in a large Dutch oven until tender. Add greens, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, 1 1/2 hours or until greens are tender. Serve with hot sauce, if desired. |
