Sutlac was the classic rice pudding from the Ottoman Palace kitchens..this recipe comes from my family and littel bit different from traditional sutlaç ..normally in our country after cook in a pot they remove in small oven –proof dishes and cook until they top of turn light Brown . sutlac (turkish rice pudding) |
1/2 pound rice |
4 cups milk |
1 cup sugar (if you dont like sweet use 1/2half ) |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. * Take a half-pound of short-grain or pudding rice and soak it for 30 minutes. Drain and rinse it. Put the rice in a pan, cover it with water, and cook, uncovered, until almost all the water has been absorbed. 2. * Stir in 4 cups milk and simmer gently until the mixture thickens. 3. * Add 1 lb of sugar, and salt cook it gently for 23 to minutes, stirring occasionally. 4. * It should be thicker than a pouring consistency, but not solid. 5. * Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pour the mixture into an small bowl sprinkle on the cinnamon Serve at cold |
