TURKEY CORN CHOWDER This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Seeley Estate in Mesquite, Texas in 2000. Ingredients:
1 large white onion chopped |
3 tablespoons oil |
1 pound fresh ground turkey |
12 ounce can whole kernel corn |
1 large potato peeled and diced |
16 ounce can tomatoes |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons pepper |
2 teaspoons sugar |
3 cups boiling water |
2/3 cup canned evaporated milk |
Directions:
1. Sauté onion in oil in large kettle until transparent then push to 1 side. 2. Add turkey and cook stirring until lightly browned then add remaining ingredients except milk. 3. Stir well then cover and bring just to a boil. 4. Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes then just before serving remove from heat and stir in milk. |
