I love playing around with burgers and creating different versions, and decided to try that with ground turkey last night. These turkey burgers are more hearty than a club sandwich and taste great! Will be in our regular rotaion. Ingredients:
1.5 lbs ground turkey |
3/4 c italian bread crumbs (or more if needed for texture) |
1 pkg dry italian dressing mix |
2 t celery flakes |
2 t white wine worcestershire, or lea and perrins chicken marinade |
dash red pepper flakes (more if you like) |
1/2 c grated parmesan |
white pepper |
8-10 slices thick cut peppered bacon (or turkey bacon) |
6 slices swiss cheese |
6 sandwich buns (your fave) |
3 t melted butter or margarine |
romaine lettuce |
sliced tomato |
thin sliced red onion |
mayo |
spicy mustard |
Directions:
1. Combine by hand in large mixing bowl: Turkey, bread crumbs, dry italian dressing mix, celery flakes, worcestershire, red pepper flakes, parmesan, and white pepper 2. Mix together and form into 6 large patties 3. Place in hot skillet, or on grill pan (or grill) brown each side, then turn skillet on low and cover, cook about 12 more minutes 4. While patties are cooking, fry bacon and drain (I use the foreman grill for easier clean-up); then break slices in half 5. Melt butter and brush on insides of buns and place under broiler for a couple of minutes (or on grill pan, etc) 6. When patties are done, top with slice of swiss cheese and cover allowing cheese to melt 7. Spred bun with mayo and mustard, top each burger with lettuce, tomato and onion as desired |
