This is scrumptious, easy to make and serves a large group. Everyone loves this dish. I serve it at buffet parties and pot lucks, plus I like to keep an extra casserole in the freezer in case unexpected guests arrive and I can feel free to ask them to stay for dinner. Serve with green salad. Ingredients:
butter |
flour |
milk |
onion |
processed white cheese or other creamy white cheese |
elbow macaroni or other type noodles |
1 (6 ounce) can tuna, drained well (1-2 cans) |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. First, sauté diced onion in butter over low heat, careful not to let the butter brown, and when the onions are transparent make a white sauce. 2. An easy way to make white sauce is to add flour to onions and butter and stir until this mixture is almost brown. 3. At this point, add milk, stirring constantly until sauce is of a medium-thick consistency. 4. Second, to this mixture add at least one pound of grated white cheese. 5. When it's completely melted and the sauce is rich and creamy, add the tuna and season to taste. 6. Third, pour this mixture into a greased casserole dish and bake about 45 minutes or until Doria is slightly browned and fairly well set. |
