We came across this drink on our honeymoon. Scoured Kauai and tried to find the recipe as the restaurant would not share it. The last day there I found the recipe in a VERY small paper recipe book. When my husband was digging the trenches for the remodel on our home, I offered him one of these. Then he asked for another (it was REALLY hot that day). Well ..... the trench ended up being QUITE crooked! BE CAREFUL! It slips up on you before you realize it! Ingredients:
1/2 lime |
1/2 ounce bourbon |
1/2 ounce dark jamaican rum |
1 dash angostura bitters |
1 dash orange curacao |
hawaiian passion fruit juice |
1 1/4 ounces lemon hart bacardi 151 rum |
Directions:
1. Fill large collins glass with shaved ice. Squeeze 1/2 lime. Add dash of angostura bitters, 1/2 oz. bourbon, 1/2 oz. dark Jamaican rum and dash of orange curacao. Fill glass with Hawaiian passion fruit juice to neck of glass and mix. Fill with more shaved ice. Float 1-1/4 oz. Lemon Hart 151 proof rum. Garnish with 18 straw wedge of pineapple, cherry and back-scratcher with vanda orchid. |
