This recipe came from my mother in law and is wonderful with ham, scrambled eggs, or macaroni and cheese. I make a batch every tomato season and always wish I had made more. Ingredients:
6 quarts tomatoes |
6 cups sugar |
2 cups vinegar |
1 tablespoon salt |
1 tablespoon whole cloves |
Directions:
1. Peel and seed tomatoes. 2. Coarsely chop tomatoes and place in large pot. 3. Add remaining ingredients and boil gently until thickened, stirring occasionally (1 1/2- 2 hours). 4. Place in sterilized jars and seal then process in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. |
