I found this on a web site for Irish recipes - it's a little different from the traditional roast beef and gravy. Ingredients:
3 lbs sirloin tip roast |
2 ounces whiskey |
10 ounces red wine |
1 ounce butter |
2 ounces flour |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Roast the sirloin for one hour at 350 degrees. 2. Baste with whiskey and wine and cook another hour, basting frequently. 3. Remove roast from oven, place on a serving dish, and cover with foil. 4. While the roast is sitting, add water to the juices to make one pint of liquid. 5. Bring to a simmer and add butter and flour; simmer 2-3 minutes. 6. Slice the roast and serve with gravy. |
