Idli is a regular south indian b'fast.Easy,healthy prepared from a batter of rice&lentils fermented overnight.add some carrots&peas for tricolour idlis Ingredients:
parboiled rice or idli rice-4c |
urad dal or lentil-2c |
salt as required |
oil for greasing the idli plates |
grated carrot 2tsp |
peas -2tsp |
Directions:
1. Soak the Rice,lentils seperately for 6hr 2. Drain the water,first grind lentils till smooth for about 45min 3. Keep it aside in a container 4. Then add the rice&grind for about 30min.can add bit by bit water while grinding. 5. Then add both rice&lentil in a big container,mix it well without any lumps 6. Add salt 7. keep it covered for fermentation for overnight r 6-8hr 8. The batter will be doubled in volume 9. Greese the idli plates,add carrots&peas,then pour the batter&steam cook for 10-15min 10. serve hot with ur favourite chutney,sambar... |
