Must be a million pound cake recipes out there but this one is fine grained and delicious. I make it and serve as the base for strawberry shortcake. Also good to give as gifts Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups crisco |
1 1/4 cups sugar |
5 eggs |
3 cups flour |
1 cup milk |
1 tsp salt |
1 tsp baking soda |
' tsp vanilla |
1 tsp lemon extract |
Directions:
1. Cream crisco and sugar well 2. Add eggs one at a time. beat throughly 3. Add dry ingredients alternately wit milk, beat well. 4. Add flavoring and beat well 5. Do not underbeat 6. Note: you can really BEAT out some frustration with this recipe! 7. Bake in 10 greased and floured pan or two 5x7 bread pans for about 1 hr to 1 hr and 15 minutes |
