Delicious, this recipe has been passed down in my family and it is now time to share!!!! Ingredients:
1/3 cup olive oil |
1 onion, medium chopped |
4 garlic cloves, minced |
1 tablespoon basil (fresh & chopped... or 1 teaspoon dried) |
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped |
1 1/2 teaspoons oregano (fresh & chopped... or 1/2 teaspoon dried) |
2 (35 ounce) cans of italian peeled tomatoes (it is important that these be italian grown tomatoes... look where they come from) |
1 (8 ounce) can italian tomato paste (again important that these be imported from italy) |
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 pinch ground pepper |
1/2 teaspoon thyme |
2 bay leaves |
6 italian sausage (browned and cut in quarters) |
Directions:
1. combine all ingredients into large stock pot. 2. cook at a simmer for 12 hrs stiring frequently. 3. serve over spaghetti or other pasta. 4. great with garlic bread/toast. |
