We got this from our favorite waitress at the local steakhouse. It is better than any bottled sauce I've ever tried. We make a large amount and freeze it in 1 cup increments. Ingredients:
2 ounces shredded ginger |
2 cups light soy sauce |
2 cups pineapple juice |
2 cups water |
1 1/2 cups brown sugar |
1 1/2 cups caraway seeds |
1 1/2 cups sesame seeds |
8 ounces ketchup |
1 dash marsala wine |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients and simmer for 2 1/2 hours. 2. Dip out some sauce and make a slurry with an equal amount of corn starch, about 2 tbs each. 3. Stir in slurry and stir simmering until it is the thickness you wish. 4. Don't add too much, or it will turn to brown jelly. 5. Freeze what you don't use. |
