My aunt's recipe. This is best the next day
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
1 cup celery
1 onion, diced
1 cup carrot, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
2 bay leaves
5 3/4 cups tomato juice
4 cups hot water
1 cup dry lentils
2 beef bouillon cubes
1 garlic clove
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Brown meat and drain fat.
2. Saute celery and onion until tender.
3. Add rest of ingredients.
4. Cook 2 hours or until lentils are soft.
