A great-sounding tomato sauce that I'd like to make to top some of the whole-wheat noodles I have. From Ingredients:
1 teaspoon olive oil |
1 medium onion, chopped |
8 garlic cloves, chopped |
8 tomatoes, chopped |
1 cup water |
1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped |
fresh ground black pepper |
Directions:
1. 1. In a saucepan or stock pot over medium heat, sauté the onion in the oil until golden, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, tomatoes and simmer 5 minutes. Add the water and simmer another 5 minutes. Add the basil and simmer 1 minute longer. 2. 2. Place all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until chunky, about 5 seconds. Taste and season with pepper. |
