This recipe is from the Kerr Home Canning Book. The price on the outside of the hardcover book...10 cents! Oh the good ol' days. This recipe is a savory one. There are no amounts for the jars in the book...so I will take a guess because the old memory box is slightly failing. Use a small can of pimiento. Ingredients:
1 lb tomato, chopped |
1 lb apple, chopped |
1 green pepper, chopped |
1 onion, chopped |
1/8 teaspoon cayenne |
1 pimiento (can) |
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard |
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup vinegar |
1 cup sugar |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients except pimiento. 2. Boil slowly for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. 3. Add pimiento and boil 5 minutes longer. 4. Pack into sterilized jars and seal. |
