I used the recipe to make pecans instead. Then I made jars of caramel hot fudge sauce, packaged those with bags of the toffee pecans for gifts of instant turtle sundaes - just add ice cream. Read more . Big hit. But just make them for yourself or there may not be any left for gifts after sampling. . Ingredients:
1 c. sugar |
1 stick butter, melted |
8 t. corn syrup |
5 t. cinnamon |
1 t. salt |
1 t. nutmeg |
8 c. pecan halves |
additional salt to sprinkle |
Directions:
1. In large bowl, mix sugar, butter, cornsyrup, cinnamon, salt and nutmet. Add nuts, toss to coat. Transfer to your largest baking sheet with sides. 2. Bake at 300 for 1 1/2 hours stirring ever 15 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with additional salt to taste. Cool. Store in airtight container. |
