A fantastic shortbread recipe that is super to have for the Holiday season, just a little different from the regular shortbread!! Ingredients:
2 cups butter, at room temperature |
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3 cups flour |
1 cup whole wheat flour |
1 cup butter toffee pieces (available at bulk food stores) |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar and vanilla until fluffy. With a wooden spoon or by hand, gradually mix in flours and toffee bits. 2. Shape mixtures into 1 1/4 inch balls. Flatten balls into 1/4 inch thick rounds. Place on ungreased baking sheets, about 2-inches apart. 3. Bake at 350F on top oven rack for 10-12 minutes, or until just starting to lightly brown, Remove from oven and let cool 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely. |
