These rich, chocolate-y toffee bars make a delicious addition to your holiday cookie tray. Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon spice islandsĀ® ground nutmeg |
1/4 teaspoon spice islandsĀ® ground ginger |
1 cup butter or margarine, softened |
1 large egg |
1 teaspoon spice islandsĀ® pure vanilla extract |
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips |
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). 2. Combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger in large bowl. Using electric mixer, add butter, egg and vanilla. Beat at low speed until dough holds together. 3. Press into a well greased 15x10 jelly roll pan. 4. Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned. 5. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips; let stand 5 minutes. Spread chocolate evenly over top; sprinkle with pecans. Cut into bars while still warm. |
