This is a wonderful pie! Ingredients:
5 cups sliced peeled granny smith apples |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed |
1 1/2 ounces heath candy bars, chopped (or similar) |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
1 tablespoon butter, melted |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 dash nutmeg |
1 unbaked pastry shell (9-inches) |
1/3 cup flour |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
2 tablespoons cold butter |
1/4 cup chopped nuts |
1 1/2 ounces heath candy bars, chopped (or similar) |
Directions:
1. Set oven to 375 degrees. 2. Set oven rack to bottom position. 3. In a bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. 4. Spoon into pie shell. 5. FOR TOPPING: Combine the flour, brown sugar and cinnamon; cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 6. Add nuts and chopped Heath candy bar. 7. Sprinkle over the pie. 8. Bake for 30-35 mins (lowest oven rack), or until the topping is browned, and apples are tender. |
