This is one of the squares I make for dessert when asked to bring 'something'. There are usually not a crumb left, when we go home. Enjoy! Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened |
2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened |
1/2 cup packed brown sugar |
2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour |
2 cups granulated sugar |
1 1/2 cups buttermilk |
4 eggs |
1/2 cup butter, melted |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 cups toasted chopped hazelnuts |
sifted powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl beat the 1/2 cup butter, cream cheese, brown sugar and 2 cups of the flour till well combined. 2. With lightly floured hand pat mixture onto bottom and up sides of a 15 x 10 x 1 ungreased baking pan. 3. Bake in a 350 degrees F. 4. oven for 15 min. 5. Meanwhile, beat together granulated sugar, the remaining 1/3 cup flour, buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and salt with an electric mixer on low speed till combined. 6. Stir in nuts. 7. Pour into crust. 8. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes or till golden. 9. Cool, cut into bars and sprinkle with powdered sugar. 10. Store in refrigerator. |
