Quick and easy, great on hot or cold cerals, yogurt or all by itself. Ingredients:
1 c packed brown sugar |
1/3 c water |
4 c old fashioned oats |
2 c bran flakes |
1 jar (12oz) toasted wheat germ |
2 tbs flour |
3/4 tsp salt |
1/3 c oil |
2 tsp vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. In a large sauce pan, bring brown sugar and water to a boil. Cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat; set aside. 2. In a large bowl, combine the oats, bran flakes, wheat germ, flour and salt. 3. Stiir oil and vanilla into sugar mixture; pour over oat mixture and toss to coat. 4. Transfer to two 15in x 10in baking pans coated with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 250 for 1 hour and 15 to 1 hour and 30 or until dry and lightly browned, stirring every 15 mins. Cool completely on wire racks. 5. Store in airtight container. |
