THIS IS A NICE APPETIZER I HAVE SERVED AT DIFFERRENT PARTIES OVER THE YEARS, AND WAS A HIT ....... Ingredients:

1 cup flour |
1/2 cup butter, melted |
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese |
preheat oven to 350 degrees. mix shell ingredients to form a soft dough and press into a pie plate or quiche pan. |

4 medium onions , chopped |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup flour |
1 cup milk |
1 egg. beaten |
1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese |
dashes of -sea salt .....coarse ground black pepper, and paprika. |
Directions:
1. in a nonstick skillet, saute onions in butter till translucent; 2. sprinkle with flour to give a coated look. 3. add a little milk to the beaten egg, then the remaining milk to the onions. 4. slowly cook to make a white sauce, stirring often. 5. add egg and milk mixture to onions and cook for 1 minute on low heat. 6. add cheese, salt and pepper, and mix well. 7. remove from heat and pour into prepared pie shell. 8. sprinkle with paprika. 9. bake for 30 minutes. 10. serve warm 11. serves 4- 6 12. note from Tink ;.......you can also add a topping just before baking like chopped broccoli or cauliflower florets, or whatever you like ....... |
